Brianna Yang, Newspaper Managing Editor and Web Manager

Hello! I’m Brianna, I’m the Managing Editor for the Tom Tom, and I also work to keep the website as up to date as possible (which is a work in progress as the website customization is not so user friendly…). I’m a huge outdoorsy person, and I am always down for a stroll! Feel free to come up to me and start talking about Kung Fu Panda, there is a good chance I will drop everything I’m doing to talk!

Lights, camera, action. A few days before the show, the troupe rehearses the show from start to finish with everything like costumes, lighting, and sound finalized. In this particular scene, William (played by freshman Abby Hollingshead), Victor Frankenstein’s (played by senior Asher Briggs) brother, was found murdered. Surrounding the body is Victor, Alphonse (played by senior Ringo Sarratt), and Elizabeth (played by sophomore Taelor Stevens). Running over is the Constable (played by freshman Ozzy Trudell). “Some difficulties I've encountered are trying to memorize all of my lines,” Briggs said. “I have been running them to death to try and get them memorized. I know a lot of my cast members are doing the same.”

Inspire. The Education Academy students discuss with each other the assignment they were just given. Senior Sage Frazier said they like the collaborative nature of the Education Academy. “[Ms. Armstrong] always tried to give us the opportunity to talk to everyone,” Frazier said. “So, talking with everybody and everything, she [Ms. Armstrong] also opens up a lot of chances for communication like, ‘what did I do for today, and what do I need to improve for tomorrow?’ And she always asks that at the end of every class and she opens up every class with a journal prompt that she replies to everyday. It’s such a cool concept.”

Stay focused. With a concentrated gaze, sophomore Zoey Howard waits to get the ball from her teammate. Howard believes that female athletes can continue to be leaders and great role models for younger girls to look up to. “I am aware [that female athletes are paid less than male athletes] and it makes me mad because women work just as hard as men; we can continue to push for more equality by putting ourselves out there,” Howard said.
