If you have a sweet tooth and plenty of money to spend, the uprising dessert bakery-chain called Crumbl Cookie might just be the place for you.
Jason McGowan introduced Crumbl in 2017, and quickly the company started receiving a lot of attention for their extravagant flavors and big portions. The business first started off with making cookies and grew to a bigger variety of desserts like cheesecake, cake, and brownies. Crumbl swaps sets of flavors every week, and on Mondays, they have mini versions of the week’s cookies.
This week (April 21 to 26), Crumbl presented the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chip Cookie, Peanut Butter Cup Cookie ft. REESE’S, Vanilla Crumb Cake Cookie ft. GOLDEN OREO, Confetti Cookie, Chocolate Cookies & Cream Cookie, Carrot Cake (from last week), Raspberry Cheesecake, and others. The Crumbl website provides detailed descriptions of each cookie, which I find extremely helpful because of things like allergies. I went on “Mini” Monday, so I got a mini pack of six cookies: Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chip Cookie, Peanut Butter Cup Cookie ft. REESE’S, Vanilla Crumb Cake Cookie ft. GOLDEN OREO, Confetti Cookie, Chocolate Cookies & Cream Cookie, and the Candy Egg Brownie Cookie. I didn’t get the remaining flavors due to bias because of my own dislikes. The total of the cookies came to about $16.57. The calories of each mini varied from about 200-310.
I went to the Crumbl located on 10403 S 1 with cash rather than card. Unfortunately, the pricing itself was very high, especially when it came to the bigger cookies. The pricing for a regular six-pack was $22.99. I think that’s insane considering that they are just cookies.
The cookie I would rank first out of my order from Crumbl would be the Confetti Cookie. The cookie’s description on the website and in the store stated that it was a warm vanilla sugar cookie with sprinkles. I definitely got that exact description within the cookie when it came to the look of it and taste. The cookie had a very subtle taste of vanilla, but it was very evident that it was a sugar cookie because of its plainness. It was not too sweet, which I liked because I didn’t feel overpowered by sugar. The sprinkles had no taste, and I think it really didn’t impact the taste at all. It really tasted like a classic soft sugar cookie. The look of the cookie had a nice texture to it. It looked like a freshly baked authentic cookie; it wasn’t completely flat. That’s what I think anyone looks for in a cookie because that bumpy texture gives the cookie a good look. The sprinkles, despite the lack of taste, remained a good addition as it made the cookie look more desirable. Compared to the other cookies, it was the only one that I could completely finish despite the cookie being a mini version. It had all of the right amounts of flavor. The only thing it was missing was that pungent vanilla taste, but the cookie itself tasted the best out of the lineup.
The Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chip Cookie is second in my line. In my opinion, this is a hard cookie to master because it’s been around for a long time. I think they did a decent job. The description of the cookie stated that it was a chunky chocolate chip cookie filled with semi-sweet chocolate chips and a sprinkle of flaky salt. Again, I think the description is very identical to the cookie itself. It really tastes like a homemade chocolate chip cookie, which I enjoy because it was not too extravagant. The base gave off a cookie dough taste with a subtle hint of vanilla. The base of the cookie had a nice, soft consistency when it came to texture. I, however, did not enjoy that the cookie was a little raw in the middle. All of the cookies had that in common, which personally I don’t like because the texture becomes too soft. The chocolate chips were entirely too big for that mini cookie. I think when it came to portions, they failed on that part. When it comes to a chocolate chip cookie, I think that the chocolate chips should be somewhat spread out so it’s not overpowering the actual cookie. Like the Confetti Cookie, it had a bumpy look to it, again making it look authentic and not manufactured or fake. Overall, I would probably eat this again; it’s a great take on the classic chocolate chip cookie.
Taking third, Candy Egg Brownie Cookie, and fourth in my lineup is the Chocolate Cookies & Cream Cookie. These cookies are very similar when it comes to the look and taste. Starting with the Candy Egg Brownie Cookie, Crumbl’s website states that the cookie is a warm, rich brownie cookie filled with candy egg pieces and topped with more candy eggs. The cookie was authentic to its description. The cookie was very rich when it came to the chocolate. The issue I had was that the chocolate in the cookie clashed with the chocolate in the Cadbury egg (milk chocolate). I didn’t enjoy the clash of chocolates, and I think the cookie really could’ve used less of the Cadbury chocolate so it could have more of a brownie taste. It had a very soft taste to it, and again the center was raw, although it was a good cookie and it’s something I can see people enjoying. Next, the Chocolate Cookies & Cream Cookie: the website states that it is a chocolate cookie packed with cookies & cream pieces and studded with creamy white drops. This cookie was interesting because I didn’t get cookies and cream from this cookie. I got chocolate. The chocolate base that the cookie had overpowered any cream taste it had. I am a big fan of cookies and cream, so I was disappointed. It was chocolate on top of chocolate. Considering that they had Oreo bits and a chocolate base, it had a really strong taste of that chocolate to it. The “cream drops” also tasted like white chocolate. The texture was the same as the previous cookies, and this was the first cookie that had a flat look to it. Overall, this cookie has some work to do, but it wasn’t terrible.
Moving on, we have my bottom two that honestly would tie for sixth place, but if I had to rank them in a specific order, the Vanilla Crumb Cake Cookie ft. GOLDEN OREO would be fifth, and in sixth place, I would put the Peanut Butter Cup Cookie ft. REESE’S. The Vanilla Crumb Cake Cookie ft. GOLDEN OREO description according to Crumbl states, a warm cookie mixed with GOLDEN OREO® cookie pieces then topped with a swirl of vanilla cream cheese frosting and even more GOLDEN OREO® cookie pieces. This was fairly accurate, but I don’t get a cake feeling from this cookie. If you’re diabetic, I don’t think this is the cookie for you. It was entirely too sweet. There was way too much frosting, and that overpowered the overall taste of the cookie. The frosting did have a cream cheese taste to it with a subtle hint of sweetness, but I still don’t want to bite into frosting. It was not enjoyable, and that’s why it’s ranked so low. Again, the texture was like the other cookies, and the look was very pleasant. It looked like a perfect cookie, and it’s decorated exceptionally well. But the taste brings it down. It’s like biting into a spoonful of cream cheese coated with sugar and a little bit of sugar cookie. As for the next cookie, I have hardly any words, in a bad way. The description on the Crumbl website states that it is a classic peanut butter cookie topped with a pool of melted peanut butter chips, drizzled with gooey milk chocolate, and sprinkled with REESE’S Peanut Butter Cups. The cookie gets some points for matching the description, but it was not good. The flavor of the cookie was honestly straight peanut butter. Take a spoon, put it in a jar, eat it, and you’ve tasted the cookie at home. It was very soft and a bit raw, so it did not contribute to the cookie feeling. I like peanut butter and chocolate, so there was a lot of disappointment. I think they would’ve been better off having chocolate mixed within the cookie to give it a REESE’S feeling. Instead, all of that peanut butter left a dry taste in your mouth. Crumbl, you’ve let REESE’S down. The look was pretty, but the inside was not.
I would give Crumbl a solid 3 stars out of five. While some were good, the majority were not. It was honestly too sugary, and I think consumerism has something to do with its popularity. I don’t think I would go back, mostly because of the cost and taste of some of the cookies.5th St, Bellevue, NE 68123. The customer service was very efficient. I used their kiosk, and you could order the cookie yourself if you have a card. It wasn’t very busy when I went in, so there was no line and hardly a wait. They got my food out in a very fast time, and they showed me the cookies before they handed it to me. I would give their customer service four stars. I think they were very efficient with their timing. However, no one was at the register, which I found to be a little weird because some people pay.
